Kim

The Kim is one of the most interesting speakers I have ever encountered. I love the distinctive look and the integrated stand. It's not an overly large speaker, but it certainly can present a full sound stage. It images beautifully, is capable of an extraordinarily level of resolution, and sounds terrific at any volume. In addition, there are two very useful control sets on the back plate of the Kim - one is a treble level control, and the other a dampening control to match the speaker to your amplifier. Both controls are extremely useful, and clearly well though out. The Kim is an exceptional speaker designed to provide long term musical enjoyment.

There is just nothing ordinary about the Borg speaker. It is a floor standing design with a 10.25 inch mid/bass driver, coupled with an Air Motion Transformer tweeter... unusual. It has a back panel with four tone shaping controls... also unusual. At first glance, the cabinet looks a bit like a sarcophagus... which is unusual approaching weird. Unusual and weird have mostly negative connotations, but unusual and weird - when they work - also translate into innovation. In this case they definitely work. 

The two way driver configuration with only a single crossover promotes a full range frequency response that is clear, uncoloured, and non-fatiguing. The rear panel controls (damping, mid, presence, and high) provide the means to carefully match the Borg to your room, system, and musical tastes. The cabinet shape and construction contributes to the elimination of structural resonance, colouration, and time-smear for the best possible retrieval of low-level detail. A tremendous amount of care has gone into the design and construction of the Borg, resulting in a truly wonderful speaker.
